Which countries make up the continent of Antarctica?

There are no countries in Antarctica. The continent is governed by the Antarctic Treaty, which was signed in 1959 and has been ratified by 54 countries. The treaty prohibits any military activity, nuclear testing, and mineral mining in Antarctica, and it designates the continent as a scientific preserve.
