Packing List for Travel to China

Whether you're traveling to China on vacation or business, you want to pack the right gear so that you're adequately prepared for your journey. You can buy most anything in China if you forget something, but there are certain items you definitely don't want to leave behind.
  1. Documentation

    • Pack your passport to present to customs.

You'll need a valid passport, any necessary visas, your tickets and itinerary, wallet, credit cards and traveler's checks when you travel to China. Keep an extra copy of your travel documents separate from your originals in case they're lost or stolen.

    Medical

    • Bring your prescription medications with you.

Carry prescription medications, vitamins, aspirin, antacids, sunscreen and lip balm, and diarrhea, anti-inflammatory and cold medications. Tuck a list of your allergies, a note of your blood type and any medical conditions you have safely inside a first-aid kit in case of emergency.

    Clothing

    • Pack a pair of sturdy shoes if you plan any walking tours.

Pack casual clothes made of natural fibers that dry quickly, a pair of sturdy walking shoes, a sun hat, sunglasses, we- weather gear, underclothing and one or two formal outfits.

    Electronics

    • Don't forget your camera to capture memories of your trip.

China runs on 220-volt electricity, so you'll need a power converter, an adapter plug and an electrical transformer. Also pack your cell phone (if it's set to work internationally), a digital camera, a travel alarm clock and all necessary chargers.
