Was Luxembourg ever a colony of France?

Luxembourg was never a colony of France, although it has been under the control of France at different times in its history.

The County of Luxembourg was a part of the Holy Roman Empire from the 10th century until the French Revolution in 1795. During this time, it was ruled by a variety of dynasties, including the House of Luxembourg, the House of Burgundy, and the House of Habsburg.

In 1795, Luxembourg was annexed by France and became part of the French department of Forêts. In 1815, after the defeat of Napoleon, Luxembourg was transferred to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

In 1839, Luxembourg was divided into two parts: the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, which remained a part of the Netherlands, and the Belgian province of Luxembourg. In 1890, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg became an independent country.

Since then, Luxembourg has maintained its independence and has not been under the control of any other country.
