    Saint Remy de Provence

    • Nostradamus was born in Saint Remy de Provence.

      This traditional Provencal village is famous on many counts. The village contains ancient Roman ruins, the most notable of which is the the Triumphant Arch of Glanum, as well as the Monastery de Mausole that housed Vincent Van Gogh during treatment for his psychiatric problems. It was here that he painted the lauded 'Starry Night'. The world-renowned Nostradamus was born in Saint Remy de Provence. Every Wednesday, the village hosts an open-air market filled with stalls of local produce and goods.
