    Amalienborg Palace

    The Little Mermaid

    • The Little Mermaid statue is a tribute to Danish author Hans Christian Andersen.

      Although these days we associate the Little Mermaid with Walt Disney, it was originally a fairytale by Danish Hans Christian Andersen, written in 1837. The statue honoring the tale perches on a rock in Copenhagen harbor near the main cruise pier, close to the shore of "Langelinie."
