Denmark's National Museum in Copenhagen was built under the auspices of King Frederik V in 1746. For adults, there are cultural artifacts from the entire history of Denmark from the Ice Age to the present day life of the Danish. Children can engage in interactive play with replicas of historical costumes and documents. The museum also houses artifacts from places as far away from Denmark as South America and Greenland. There is no admission fee and visitors can also explore the on-site cafe and gift shop.

Denmark's National Gallery boasts art and artifacts from over 700 years of European history. The Gallery hosts art that ranges from Renaissance master painters to contemporary installation art. The structure itself is a synthesis old old and new, with a modernist extension finished in 1998 grafted onto the original structure which was completed over 100 years prior. Permanent collections at the museum may be viewed free of charge, while temporary exhibitions may be entered into for a small fee. On Sundays the museum has a free concert at 3 p.m.
