Tanum, in the north of the Swedish province of Bohuslän, is a UNESCO (United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization) World Heritage site that features rock carvings from 3,000 years ago. The carvings include 450 areas of flat rock with several thousand figures, depicting the daily life and beliefs of Bronze Age Europeans. The site also includes what may perhaps be the largest European rock carving (over 2 meters tall), which has been interpreted as Odin, the Norse god of war. The rock carvings are considered to be of high artistic quality and cultural significance.

Kalmar Castle, located in eastern Sweden, sits on little peninsula that juts out into Kalmar Strait. The castle was originally constructed in the 14th century and rebuilt two centuries later. Located around a harbor, it became known as "The Key to the Kingdom." Kalmar Castle also served as an important defense from the Danes, as it sat on Sweden's border with Denmark. The "--landbron" is a nearby bridge that connects with --land Island. This island continues to be a sunny vacation spot for Swedes with its unique wildlife and historical sites which date back to pre-Viking and Viking times.
