Set in an old farmhouse, Korpudalur Youth Hostel is surrounded by high mountains and wild nature, in the breathtaking area of Westfjords. The hostel offers accommodation for 22 people, sheets for rent, guest-kitchen, bike rental and storage house. The place is a paradise for cyclists and bird-watchers, who can observe many species of seabirds, sparrows, ducks and eagles, according to the Hostelling International website. Buses connect the place with Reykjavik three times a week. The closest town is Isafjorður, roughly 10 miles away, and where flights arrive daily from Reykjavik.

Located in the northern area of the country, at the center of Siglufjordur town, this hostel offers family, only-female or only-male rooms, continental breakfast, sheets for rent, self-catering kitchen and TV room. Siglufjordur used to be the herring capital of Iceland and hosts the Herring Adventure festival in August, when thousands of visitors arrive.
