What does MLA mean in Northern Ireland politics?

MLA stands for Member of the Legislative Assembly. It is the title given to elected representatives in the Northern Ireland Assembly, the devolved legislature of Northern Ireland. MLAs are elected by proportional representation from multi-member constituencies. The current Assembly has 90 MLAs.
