The office of Prime Minister of Northern Ireland existed from 1921 to 1972, when the Stormont parliament was suspended and direct rule from London began.

1943 Leadership

In 1943, the head of government was Sir Basil Brooke (later Lord Brookeborough), who served as Prime Minister of Northern Ireland from 1943 to 1963. (The original answer stating the position didn’t exist until 1972 was incorrect.)

Correction

The position was created in 1921 under the Government of Ireland Act 1920. Brooke was the 3rd Prime Minister, succeeding John Miller Andrews.
