Travel Documents for U.S. Citizens Visiting Mexico: Passport Requirements and Tips

For U.S. citizens traveling to Mexico, the document requirements are straightforward but strictly enforced. The single essential document is a valid U.S. passport book.

Required Document

• U.S. Passport Book: Required for all air travel to/from Mexico. Must be valid for the duration of stay. Strongly recommended: Valid for at least 6 months beyond entry date (Mexican immigration authorities may deny entry if passport expires sooner, though not explicitly required by treaty).

What Does NOT Work for Air Travel
