How old is the country of Spain?

Spain has existed as a unified country for over five centuries. The modern state of Spain was established on 19 April 1479 by the Treaty of Alcáçovas when the crowns of Castile and Aragon merged through the marriage of Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon.
