Government of La Paz, Mexico

There is no city named "La Paz" in Mexico proper. There is a La Paz, Baja California Sur—the capital city of that Mexican state. As a municipal seat, it has a municipal government (ayuntamiento) headed by a municipal president (mayor), with a city council (regidores and síndicos). It operates under the state constitution of Baja California Sur and federal Mexican law. It does not have a separate "state-level" government; it is a municipality within the state.
