When it was founded the city of Mexico?

Tenochtitlan, the capital city of the Aztec Empire, was founded in 1325 on an island in the middle of Lake Texcoco in the Valley of Mexico. The city grew to become one of the largest and most important cities in the pre-Columbian Americas, with a population of over 200,000 people at its peak. After the Spanish conquest of Mexico in 1521, Tenochtitlan was destroyed and Mexico City was built on its ruins.
