Where did the original Guatemala settlers come from?

The original settlers of Guatemala were the Maya people, who migrated to the region from the south of Mexico around 2000 BC. The Maya civilisation flourished in Guatemala from around 250 AD until the 9th century AD, and left behind a rich legacy of art, architecture and culture.
