Why Mexico city was chosen as an ancient capital.?

Mexico City was not chosen as an ancient capital.

The original capital of the Aztec Empire was Tenochtitlan, located on an island in the middle of Lake Texcoco. Tenochtitlan was founded in 1325 and was the largest city in the pre-Columbian Americas. The city was built on a grid plan, with wide streets and canals. It had a population of over 200,000 people and was the center of Aztec political, religious, and economic power.

After the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire in 1521, the Spanish colonial authorities founded Mexico City on the ruins of Tenochtitlan. Mexico City became the capital of the Viceroyalty of New Spain and was the largest city in the Spanish Empire. The city grew rapidly during the colonial period and was a center of trade, culture, and learning.

After Mexico gained its independence from Spain in 1821, Mexico City became the capital of the independent nation of Mexico. The city has continued to be the capital of Mexico ever since.
