Why do most people live in Madrid Spain?
Madrid is indeed the capital city of Spain, and it has a significant population but it is not entirely accurate to say that a majority or ‘most’ people live there. According to the latest official population data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), as of January 1st, 2023, the population of Madrid is approximately 3.3 million. This makes Madrid the most populous city in Spain and one of the largest cities in Europe.
However, it’s important to note that the total population of Spain is around 47.3 million, distributed across various regions and cities nationwide. Madrid might have the largest urban population within the country, but many people are spread across different regions and cities. Some other densely populated areas include Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, and Bilbao, among others.
