The Kolar Gold Fields, also known as the Kolar Gold Mines, are located in the Kolar district of Karnataka, India. The deepest mine there, the Champion Reef, reached a depth of 3,048 metres (9,997 ft) in 1962, making it the second deepest gold mine in the world.
The deepest gold mine in the world is the TauTona Mine in Carletonville, South Africa, which reached a depth of 3,900 metres (12,800 ft) in 2015.
