What and where is titcaca?
Lake Titicaca is located in the Andes Mountains on the border between Peru and Bolivia. It is the highest commercially navigable lake in the world, at an elevation of 3,812 meters (12,506 feet) above sea level. The lake has a surface area of 8,562 square kilometers (3,306 square miles) and a maximum depth of 284 meters (932 feet). Lake Titicaca is fed by several rivers, including the Ramis, Coata, Ilave, and Suches rivers. The lake discharges into the Desaguadero River, which flows into Lake Poopó in Bolivia.
Lake Titicaca is an important source of water for drinking, irrigation, and fishing. The lake is also a popular tourist destination, and visitors can visit the many islands on the lake, including the Uros Islands, which are home to a community of indigenous people who live on floating reed islands.
