San Felipe is one of the best places to go fishing in Baja because of its low tides, small bays, brooks and inlets and easy access to the Sea of Cortez. The Port of San Felipe is a small town that has traditionally relied upon fishing as key to their economic base and is only a two-hour drive from the Mexico-US border. According to local fishing charter operators, the most plentiful fish caught near San Felipe are yellowtail, cabrilla and spotted bass.

La Paz is a fishing city that has, for the most part, escaped the tourist onslaught of other fishing places in Baja California. With a population of approximately 200,000, La Paz is beginning to be discovered by vacationers and has aggressive building activity in the condominium and vacation home business, more frequent stops by cruise ships, a new aquarium and a 1,700-acre golf resort.
La Paz is ideal place to go fishing in Baja, California from spring to fall because of the option to fish in the bay or the remote fishing grounds of Las Arenas and Cerralvo Island. Dorado, billfish and grouper are three of the most plentiful fish in the waters off La Paz.
