Galveston is located just 50 miles south of the megalopolis in Houston if you want to take advantage of its the city's vast cultural and economic opportunities. There are plenty of Mexican cities located on the Gulf of Mexico with attractive benefits for those who want to live on the gulf, not the least of which is a low cost of living. Campeche is a great choice in Mexico because it is a beautiful area on the Gulf of Mexico, and yet it is very quiet and does not have a lot of tourists, unlike some other Mexican cities on the gulf. Campeche is an old commercial port city with many well-preserved historical sites, including the Cathedral and the Templo de Guadalupe. UNESCO named Campeche a World Heritage Site in 2002.
If you want to live in the Persian Gulf, Dubai is a great choice. It has the expats from almost every country in the world living there, with only 20 percent of its population being Emeratis. It is an easy country for English speakers because English has become the standard language of communication in a country where many languages are spoken. Restaurant menus are written in English as are signs on the streets of Dubai. It is a great place for children, with a multitude of parks, carnivals and year-round water sports. There are many unique cultural offerings in Dubai. The Heritage Village has camel and horse rides and puts on special shows during the Shopping Festival and during Ramadan.
