The Best Places to Live in Terms of Moderate Weather

Moderate climates are places that aren't too hot or too cold. They don't get too much rain but aren't dry, and forget about severe weather. While the United States' west coast sees some very moderate climates, the rest of the world offers some unique comparisons. From California to Australia and even Europe, you will find some of the most moderate climates in unexpected places.

Redwood City, California
- The California coastal climate is as moderate as it gets in the contiguous U.S.
  
  There isn't a better, more moderate climate in the contiguous United States than the California coast and San Francisco Bay. Redwood City sits in the middle of the San Francisco peninsula. The city maintains above-average sunshine for the U.S. and temperatures that range between 50 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit yearlong. On an extremely cold day, Redwood City's 75,000 residents may see temperatures in the low 40s.
Atlixo, Mexico
- Relax in the semitropical climate of Mexico.
  
  Atlixo sits at an elevation of 6,000 feet 2.5 miles north of Mexico City. According to "Huntington News," based in West Virginia, Atlixo is a small charming town with the third best weather in the world. Semitropical gardens, a fertile river valley and warm residents are Atlixo's signature characteristics. The weather may be great but residents must get used to living in the shadow of one of the worlds most dangerous volcanoes, Popocatepetl. The mountain is very closely monitored and should an eruption threat occur residents are quickly notified.
Faulconbridge, Australia
- Ninety minutes from Sydney, Australia, there is the small town of Faulconbridge. "Huntington News" lists this place as their number four for best weather in the world. Australians would say it has the best in the world. Australia's Blue Mountains are full of natural wonders. Faulconbridge is one of them with very mild temperatures averaging between 60 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. This town is at 1400 feet above sea level and it is this low elevation that keeps it moderate. Temperate rainforest and some snowfall are in the higher regions of the Blue Mountains.
Valletta, Malta
- Like many European destinations, Malta is riddled with historic architecture.
  
  Australia may claim Faulconbridge, but Europe claims the Maltese Islands as having "the best climate in the world," according to "International Living." Malta is a handful of small islands in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea 60 miles from Sicily. The main island of Malta sees an average of 5.7 hours of sunshine per day, according to International Living. Frost and snow is unknown, there are 70-degree days into November, and spring comes in late February. Valletta is Malta's capital city, the tourist center of the islands.
