While most parasailing adventures in Cancun involve a chair or harness tethered to a boat, My Cancun Experience is a free flight. You are paired with an instructor in a two-seat sling and your glider is pulled from the beach into the air by a boat. Once you reach altitude, it's all about catching the wind. Your certified pilot controls the glider, leaving you to take in the breathtaking view and snap photos or take videos. The trip begins at Playa Tortuga in the Cancun Hotel Zone, from where you'll be taken by boat to Captain Morgan's Beach Club in Isla Blanca, about a 45-minute ride. Along the way you'll be provided with water, soda, and sandwiches. Once at Captain Morgan's, you'll be outfitted with your harness, life jacket and parachute, and then you'll go soaring above the beautiful Isla Blanca peninsula. After your flight, head for the beach palapas, order a cocktail and relive your experience.

Aqua World is one of the major tour organizers in Cancun and they specialize in SkyRider parasailing. The SkyRider, which is also used at Disney World, has a two-person seat that rather resembles a Ferris wheel seat perched on a platform on the stern of the boat. As the boat gets up to speed, the seat is lifted straight up from the platform and you are airborne. The pilots pride themselves in getting you smoothly back down to the platform. Although the whole trip can be accomplished without getting wet, the pilot will cheerfully dunk you upon request. Choose from ocean or lagoon tours, and you can also take the SkyRider from nearby Cozamel, where you can view Mayan ruins from the air.
