Nuevo Vallarta began as an idea by developers who sought to offer tourists an alternative to the bustling Mexican hot spot, Puerto Vallarta. In 1992, developers began welcoming guests to "New Vallarta" to experience its three miles of pristine sandy beaches and 300-slip marina, the only certified "Clean Marina" in Mexico.
Nuevo Vallarta enjoys the enviable setting between the hills and the Pacific Ocean. The beauty of the landscape is the main attraction. Other attractions include a zoo, a dolphin facility, two golf courses, a mall and many newer all-inclusive resorts.
For the sports enthusiast, water sports abound. Besides deep sea fishing, surfing and snorkeling, you can try kiteboarding, using a surfboard and a small parachute.
Charming Nuevo Vallarta offers warm, welcoming hospitality, smaller crowds than other nearby destinations and lower prices. The all-inclusive resorts are an affordable option for visitors, especially families.
Nuevo Vallarta is a 10-minute drive to the airport and a 30-minute taxi ride or 45-minute bus ride to Puerto Vallarta. While Puerto Vallarta boasts a bustling night life, Nuevo Vallarta is more relaxed and has little to offer after hours.
Nuevo Vallarta hosts the annual Banderas Bay Regatta every March.
