Offensive Tongan Terms and Their Meanings

Warning: The following words are highly offensive in Tongan culture. They should only be used if you are absolutely certain no offense will be taken; otherwise, avoid them entirely.

• Fakaafe'e'i: Describes someone as ignorant, stupid, or foolish. Very derogatory.
• Fai kau ai: Literally "go eat shit." Extremely crude and offensive.
• Tauatefito: Means "lazy." Rude but less severe than the above.
• Momi: Means "woman." Can be used derogatorily.
• Tahu: Means "man." Can be used derogatorily.
• Fakakafo: Means "cunt." Highly offensive and vulgar.
