Hawaii Was Never Named Hawaiki

There is no historical evidence that the Hawaiian Islands were ever called "Hawaiki." The name Hawaii has been used by its native inhabitants since ancient times. Hawaiki is the Polynesian ancestral homeland in oral tradition, not a former name for the islands.
