Was land good in colonial New Jersey?

The quality of land in colonial New Jersey varied greatly. Some areas, such as the fertile valleys of the Hudson and Delaware rivers, were known for their rich soil and productive farmland. These areas were highly sought after by settlers and quickly became densely populated.
