Where is NEWater?

NEWater, or Newater, refers to reclaimed or recycled water in Singapore. It is produced by the Public Utilities Board (PUB), Singapore's national water agency, and is used for non-potable purposes, such as irrigation and industrial cooling. NEWater is not directly distributed to homes for drinking purposes, although it can be further purified through reverse osmosis and then blended with reservoir water to produce potable water.

Singapore has four NEWater plants:

- Bedok NEWater Factory

- Kranji NEWater Factory

- Ulu Pandan NEWater Factory

- Changi NEWater Factory

These plants use advanced membrane technologies, such as reverse osmosis, to treat and purify used water from sewage treatment plants and industrial sources, making it safe for non-potable uses.

The NEWater produced at these facilities helps supplement Singapore's water supply and reduce its reliance on imported water. It also contributes to the country's water sustainability efforts and plays a crucial role in mitigating the impact of water scarcity, especially during periods of drought or increased water demand.
