Sandals operates resorts in four Caribbean countries. Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Negril are just two of the seven Sandals resorts in Jamaica. The resorts are all-inclusive, meaning the cost paid by the guest covers the room, airport transfers, food and beverages, activities and most amenities. Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Negril are very similar adult-only resorts, although Sandals Montego Bay offers slightly more variety in amenities and activities.
Negril is located in western Jamaica in the parishes of Westmoreland and Bloody Bay. Rough cliffs stand tall in Negril's West End, but Sandals Negril lies at the northern end with Booty Cay offshore to the west in the Caribbean Sea. Negril is called the "Capital of Casual" because of the laid-back atmosphere in the city. Montego Bay, in northern Jamaica, is the capital of the parish of St. James. Columbus became the first European visitor to the area in 1494. The history and nightlife of Montego Bay have helped the city earn the title of the "Tourism Capital of Jamaica."
Sandals Negril and Sandals Montego Bay are similar in the types of accommodations offered. Both resorts have beachfront rooms, garden-view rooms and suites. Sandals Negril provides swim-up suites with the pool tapering to shallow waters just outside the room. Sandals Montego Bay's property also includes villas and cottages. All rooms at both resorts are furnished with a four-poster bed and stocked refrigerator. All suites are stocked with an in-room bar.
Both Sandals resorts offer water amenities including canoes, kayaks, windsurfing, snorkeling, pools, whirlpools, sailboats and swim-up pool bars. Land amenities include table tennis, shuffle board, beach volleyball, a spa, fitness center, and multiple bars and restaurants. Sandals Montego Bay includes additional amenities not found at Sandals Negril, including giant outdoor chess, bocce ball and a resort chapel. These amenities are included as part of the all-inclusive resort package, with the exception of the spa at both properties. Red Lane Spa, the brand spa found at all Sandals resorts, costs extra. The spa menu includes body wraps, massages, hydrotherapy and facials.
Both Sandals resorts offer live music, a piano bar, charity casino nights, art auctions and talent shows as evening entertainment. Sandals Montego Bay also includes a reggae night and formal night.
Sandals recommends the use of Montego Bay International Airport to arrange transportation to both Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Negril. Sandals operates an information booth at the airport that will help with free transfers to and from the resorts. The ride from Montego Bay International Airport to Sandals Negril takes one hour. Sandals Montego Bay is 10 minutes from the airport. For an additional cost, a private car can be hired for shuttle service.
