Where can you find goldenseal?
Goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis) can be found in rich woods from Quebec and Ontario south to Georgia and Missouri, and it also occurs in Manitoba, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Goldenseal is a member of the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae). It is a perennial plant that grows from 1 to 2 feet tall. The stems are hairy and unbranched. The leaves are palmately compound with 5 to 7 leaflets. The flowers are small, greenish-white, and borne in clusters at the ends of the stems. The fruit is a capsule that contains 1 or 2 seeds.
