Go online and search two websites dedicated to Central Park (see References 1 and 2) to find the best attractions. Both sites offer easy directions and a bit of history about the numerous statues that dot the park. Some like Balto, a heroic Alaskan sled dog, Alice in Wonderland, Hans Christian Anderson or the Honey Bear at the Zoo's entrance, allow for climbing by children. This makes the statues perfect for classic New York photos.

Stop by the office for New York Park and Recreations at the Arsenal. Located on the Park's east side near Fifth Avenue and 64th Street, the agency is where photographers, budding and expert, can ask about the blooming schedule of trees and flowers. Their suggestions might include the perfect time for a romantic shot on Bow Bridge as spring cherry blossoms bloom and rowboats float by underneath.

Head to the Central Park Zoo. This has long been a favorite for photo sessions, especially at feeding times that occur once in the morning and twice in the afternoon. Aside from the main zoo, the Tisch Children's Zoo offers domestic animals such as cows and sheep in addition to bronze and concrete statues. The 19th-century carousel found near the 59th Street entrance, offers a different type of animal subject with colorfully decorated and spirited wooden horses.

Hire a private three-hour photo tour with a professional photographer. The tour includes stops by the Bethesda Fountain, the Reservoir and Strawberry Meadows, where photos will be taken of the tour group and delivered on a CD to your hotel. Groups can be as large as eight adults.
