In shallow waters on mud flats and in the bays, off the back (or west) coast of Port Canaveral, fishermen will find mullet, redfish, and mangrove snapper. The flats are also a good place to catch pinfish, which you can use for bait to catch larger edible saltwater fish.
Near-shore fishing off the coast of Port Canaveral will yield many of the same fish that frequent the flats. In addition, fishermen can catch larger snapper, grouper, crevalle, redfish, and pompano.
Deep sea, or offshore, fishing, allows anglers to bring home larger edible saltwater fish. Here, fishermen can catch goliath grouper, tuna, sea bass, and swordfish. These fish can weigh several hundred pounds and often prove quite a challenge to catch.
