The Andes Mountains run along the entire western coast of South America, forming the longest continental mountain range on Earth—approximately 7,000 km (4,350 miles).
They traverse seven countries from north to south: Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, and Argentina.
The range includes numerous peaks over 6,000 meters, with Aconcagua (6,961 m / 22,838 ft) in Argentina being the highest outside Asia. The Andes shape the continent's climate, biodiversity, and human settlement patterns, hosting unique ecosystems from tropical cloud forests to high-altitude altiplano deserts.
