New Jersey Shore Tourism

New Jersey's 127 miles of sandy beaches attract millions of tourists each year. According to the official New Jersey tourism website, Atlantic City alone plays host to 33 million visitors each year, and tourists spend around $38 billion in 2008 in the region.

    • New Jersey has many attractions to offer visitors. Its resorts are well-known for their boardwalks, some of which date back to the 1800's. Atlantic City's casinos are a major tourist draw, as is the Six Flags Great Adventure and Wild Safari theme park. Historic attractions include the region's 18 lighthouses, and towns such as Ocean Grove, a National Historic Landmark resort.

    • New Jersey's Atlantic coastline is very accessible. The region's major airport is Newark Liberty International Airport, but there is also a smaller airport at Atlantic City. NJ Transit's Coast Line rail service links the area's resorts with New York City, less than an hour away, and there is a ferry service from Delaware.

    Eco Tourism

    • Eco tourism is a growing tourism sector along the New Jersey shore. The region serves as a stop-over point for hundreds of thousands of migrating birds every year. Dolphins and humpback and finback whales can often spotted from shore.
