Flagstaff Resort in Mauch Chunk, Pennsylvania

As of October, 2010, the former town of Mauch Chunk is known as Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. The Flagstaff Mountaintop Resort was established in then-Mauch Chunk in the early 1900s after the construction of a trolley linking it to the town of Lehighton.

    • The Flagstaff Resort's ballroom accommodates several hundred people. It also boasts a stage with a sound system. The ballroom routinely holds weddings, reunions, fundraisers and meetings.

    Gallo's Pub

    • Gallo's Pub at the Flagstaff Resort is open four days a week; the restaurant closes Monday through Wednesday. The restaurant's large windows allow diners to observe the changing seasons over the Lehigh Valley Gorge. The resort staff refers to the fall view as the "Fall Foliage Fantasia."

    Famous Connections

    • Flagstaff was once home to one Asa Packer, the man who founded Lehigh University. Luminaries such as Frank Sinatra and the Dorsey Brothers once sang on the resort's stage.
