A former hospital and asylum, the Jerome Grand Hotel is just asking for ghosts, and the spirits don't disappoint. The hotel is in Jerome, Arizona, a former booming mining town now down to a population of approximately 400 and known as "Ghost City." According to the hotel's ghost-hunting website, as soon as the hotel opened its doors in 1997, the site of the former United Verde Hospital became known for ghost sightings. Guests report televisions turning on and off; inexplicable scents of flowers, cigarettes and whiskey; and strange noises. Two female apparitions are said to haunt the hotel--a ghostly nurse checking on hospital beds that no longer exist and a woman in white seeking her deceased child's resting place. The hotel is so haunted, it offers its guests a ghost hunt.

The small Clawson House Inn in Bisbee, Arizona, houses a big ghostly presence. According to Prairieghosts.com, a mine manager named Clawson built the inn in 1895 for him and his wife, later turning it into a boarding house for miners. Several ghosts allegedly haunt the Clawson House, including three miners killed over a labor dispute. These three ghosts are said to invoke the most fear in guests, creating cold spots and making noise inside and outside of the house. Mrs. Clawson's ghost is said to haunt the Clawson House Inn as well, but her presence is a peaceful one. The Clawson House no longer operates as a bed and breakfast, but you can rent the entire house for stays of three days or longer.

Featured on an episode of the Syfy network's "Ghost Hunters," the Copper Queen Hotel in Bisbee, Arizona hosts a Ghost Hunt each Thursday. Opened in 1902, the Copper Queen Hotel is said to house three resident ghosts, according to the hotel's website. One appears in doorways as an older gentleman, leaving behind the scent of cigars. Another takes the form of a mischievous young boy, moving objects around in rooms. The Copper Queen Hotel's most famous ghost, however, is Julia Lowell, a young "lady of the evening" who killed herself over unrequited love. She is said to dance provocatively, play with men's feet and take the form of a "bright, white smoke." Guests who feel the presence of any of these ghosts can record their experiences in the hotel's Ghost Journal.
