Aurora, New York Restaurants

Located on the shores of Cayuga Lake, Aurora, New York is a small historic village, loaded with small town charm. In the 2000 census, Aurora only recorded 720 residents, more than half of those college students attending nearby Wells College. Walk along Main Street, and grab a bite at one of the many casual restaurants or fine-dining restaurants available.
  1. Dorie's

    • Dorie's sandwich shop is a place to stop for a cup of coffee and a sandwich or soup after a trip to the lake. Dorie's has been a part of Main Street almost since Main Street formed. Built in 1920, Dorie's originally housed a pharmacy and a notions shop. Now employing mostly students from Wells College, Dories serves coffee, dessert, deli sandwiches and soup and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Outside seating is available and the restaurant has Wi-Fi available.

    The Aurora Inn

    • The Aurora Inn is located on the shores of Cayuga Lake on Main Street. Founded in 1883, this federal-style building houses a restaurant and a hotel. Dine on the veranda overlooking the lake and the rolling fields surrounding Aurora or in the dining room. Weddings are held in the gardens leading to the lake shore or the stone terrace. The restaurant boasts award winning American cuisine and fresh regional produce. For special occasions, private rooms such as the Lakeside room are available for your convenience. The Aurora Inn dining room's hours adjust by season. From May 27 to August 30, the Inn is open for breakfast lunch and dinner seven days a week. From August 31 to October 31, and May 1 to Memorial Day, it is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. From November through April, it's only open for private events.

    Pumpkin Hill Bistro

    • Established in 1827, Pumpkin Hill Bistro offers down-to-earth home cooking in a relaxed country atmosphere. Pumpkin Hill Bistro is located in a restored farmhouse, overlooking the lake and surrounded by farmland. Only 5 minutes south of downtown Aurora, Pumpkin Hill Bistro serves homemade soups, mouth-watering appetizers or diverse entrees such as Cookies chicken pot pie or Tortellaci Du Jour. They offer catering service for birthday parties, weddings or any other kind of celebration. After your meal, visit Pumpkin Hill's antique and gift shop or roam the gardens surrounding the bistro.

    Fargo Bar & Grill

    • Located across the street from Aurora Inn, Fargo Bar & Grill offers casual dinning in a historic building. A large, roaring fireplace will warm you in the winter and the open-air atmosphere is welcome in the summer. Fargo Bar & Grill's chefs provide homemade American cuisine, such as sandwiches, salads and Fargo's Build Your Own Burger. They also offer daily features that are sure to tempt your taste buds. After you're done eating, play pool on the pool table or go outside to throw horseshoes in the backyard pit.

      Fargo Bar & Grill is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
