Wear extra layers of clothing. If you feel too warm, you can remove the layers. However, you will need the extra clothing when the temperature drops to minus 40 degrees C.
Wear a hat and scarf. Protect your head, neck and ears from the elements. Make sure your hat covers your ears. Wrap the scarf around your nose and mouth. Breathe through your scarf while outdoors for longer than a few minutes.
Protect your fingers. Unless you want to lose your fingers, it's important to wear gloves. If you do not have gloves, tuck your hands into your pockets.
Seek shelter if any part of your body turns blue or feels numb. If you can no longer feel your fingers, toes, nose or ears, take refuge in a warm location. This is your body's way of telling you that you're freezing.
Dry your hair before you go outside. In addition to making you feel colder, wet hair will freeze in Saskatchewan.
