Located just 10 minutes away across the Delaware River, Trenton offers numerous attractions. The capital city of New Jersey, Trenton is home to the Old Barrack Museum. The 18th century barracks played a key role in both the French and Indian War and the Revolutionary War. Staff members in period costume will help you learn about the history of the barracks. If you are interested in general New Jersey history, visit the New Jersey State Museum, which features not only historical artifacts and clothing, but a planetarium as well. This AA team is a minor league affiliate of the New York Yankees and features up and coming players that you can can before they hit the big time. The city of Philadelphia is only 30 minutes away and features numerous professional sports franchises like the Phillies, the Eagles football team, the 76ers and the hockey team Flyers.
Thirty minutes to the north is New Hope, a tourist town focusing on arts and antiques. Wander the streets visiting its art galleries and locally owned businesses. Take a ride on a barge along the Delaware River in one of the city's mule drawn carts. If you are interested in night life, New Hope features numerous bars and venues that offer live music most nights of the week. The Bucks County Playhouse offers theater productions for both adults and kids.
About 20 miles from Langhorne is the Philadelphia Zoo. The 42-acre park and garden is the nation's first zoo, and home to more than 1,300 animals, including some rare and endangered species. The Philadelphia Zoo features big cats, primates, reptiles and many types of birds. Among the chief exhibits is Big Cat Falls, which opened in 2006 and features more than 10 endangered big cats like black jaguars, tigers and snow leopards.
