Adventure Activities for a Zorbing Ball

Zorbing, also referred to as "globe riding," involves getting inside of a giant, inflatable globe and rolling down a hill. There are two types of Zorb globes: the dry "Zorbit" option and the wet "Zydro" option. For the Zorbit option, you or you and one friend are harnessed inside the globe and can only go straight down the hill. In the watery Zydro, one to three people -- unharnessed -- can ride.
  1. Zorb Rotorua-New Zealand

    • Rolling down hills in a Zorb in Rotorua, New Zealand, is the how the activity began and is the flagship site for Zorb. Rotorua has the Zydro and Zorbit options. For the wet Zydro ride, you (and up to two friends) can choose either the straight or zigzag track. The maximum weight is 130 kg (286 lbs.), and the combined maximum weight is 200 kg (441 lbs.) For the Zorbit option the maximum weight is 100 kg (220 lbs.) and the minimum height is 1.6 meters (5 feet 2 inches). The minimum age for riders is 6 years for both rides.

    Zorb Smoky Mountains-USA

    • Zorbing down hills in the Smoky Mountains in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, is the only official place to Zorb in the United States as of 2011. Available year-round, seven days per week (except Thanksgiving and Christmas days), this location is very similar to the New Zealand site. Zydro and Zorbit options are offered, with the minimum age for both rides being 8 years. The wet Zydro has different track options, a maximum weight of 285 lbs. and a combined maximum weight of up to 550 lbs. The dry Zorbit option has a maximum weight of 220 lbs. and a minimum height of 5 feet 2 inches.

    Zorb Slovenia

    • Rolling down a hill is always the most important part of your Zorb experience. This location is a little different than the New Zealand and Tennessee sites. Here, there is only one option: two people roll the ball down the hill. This is the dry Zorb with the harnesses, and there is only one track. The location is open between May and October, and it closes when there is rain or temperatures above 35 degree Celsius. There is a minimum height requirement of 140 cm (55 inches) and a maximum weight of 105 kg (231 lbs.)

    Zorb World Franchises

    • Zorb has franchise locations in Ireland, Guam, Thailand, Czech Republic and Argentina. These sites are considered safe sites, as they must comply with certain regulations. The specifics of each location may vary (such as the number of tracks and ride options), but the basic experience is the same. If you choose an unofficial Zorb location, you may be taking a greater risk for harm as the site may not follow the safety regulations.
