Go to the Smithsonian Institute's website for the Global Volcanism Program (GVP). This website lists monthly activity reports for any volcanic activity large or small dating back to 1968. The site is a global information clearinghouse for all volcanic activity.
Select the "Volcanoes of the World" drop-down menu. The "Volcanoes of the World" is located in the red banner near the top of the page. The drop-down banner allows you to select from volcanoes by region, name, eruption date and other selections. Choose "Find a Volcano by Region" to display a world map.
Click on the region on the map. The site will then display a smaller area. Each red triangle is a volcano in that region. Click on the map again to display all known volcanoes in that region.
Scroll through the list of volcanoes. Each volcano will be displayed with a picture, name, type, status and location.
Click on a desired volcano for more information. Each volcano has a brief write-up and gives more information regarding location by supplying longitude and latitude coordinates. The height of the volcano is listed along with the last known eruption date.
