How to Locate Carbide Skags

Snowmobiles have made transport over wintry conditions much easier and quicker. They are extremely useful both as an object of utility as well as recreation. Snowmobiles are gas-powered and use skis to guide and steer the vehicle. Among the many upgrades and attachments available to snowmobile users are carbide skags, which improve steering and traction.

Instructions

    • 1

Find the coiled ski spring on the underside of the snowmobile.

    • 2

Follow the ski spring down until you reach the spindle, in between the spring and the ski.

    • 3

Look for the carbide skags directly underneath the steering spindle. The skags will be thin and flat, curving slightly at the front, and between 3 and 8 inches in length.
