Travelers over the age of 17 may bring 250 cigarettes or 250 grams of tobacco, 2 liters of wine or 1 liter of spirits into Israel without any import taxes or fees. Anyone is free to import up to a quarter liter of perfume or eau de cologne, and Israeli citizens may bring in gifts worth up to $150, though this excludes items such as televisions, cameras and video cameras. Non-Israeli residents may bring up to $125 worth of gifts, with the same exclusions.
Travelers who are importing flowers, plants and seeds may be required to provide a certificate. Fresh meat, bananas and pineapples are strictly prohibited, as are all fruits and vegetables from Africa.
The following items may not be exported from Israel: sporting guns or weapons, food (including dairy products), pharmaceuticals, vaccines and toxic waste.
Travelers may bring up to two domestic cats, dogs and/or birds to Israel, though each animal requires a written declaration of ownership confirming possession for a minimum of 90 days prior to travel. Pets must also have a certificate of health from a government veterinary officer in the traveler's home country dated within seven days of arrival asserting the health of the pets, and noting their lack of disease or infection. The health certificate must also confirm rabies vaccinations occurred more than a month but less than a year before travel to Israel; travelers from United Kingdom, Oceania and Cyprus must have their pets vaccinated for rabies within five days of arrival in Israel. Travelers must also notify the Israeli Office of Veterinary Services about their pet(s) a minimum of 48 hours prior to arrival.
Animals arriving unaccompanied by their owner or that are noncompliant with requirements may be quarantined for up to eight days.
