The Casa Natal de El Liberator is located in the center of Caracas on University Avenue. It is the birth house of Simon Bolivar, a former president of Venezuela, and has been maintained with many of the items left by his family.
The Monumento a Boyaca is dedicated to the battle in 1817 that ultimately resulted in the independence of Columbia. Quotes by a former leader, Simon Bolivar, can be found on the four columns of the monument. Located near the Cota Mil motorway in Caracas, the monument is a great location to relax and enjoy a view of the city.
Where the avenues of Los Ilustres and Los Simbolos meet stands the Monumento a Los Simbolos. This monument features three figures: one that represents the Venezuelan shield, one that represents the flag and one representing the national anthem. The figures were erected at different times--1836, 1806 and 1881, respectively.
The Concejo Municipal is the location where the Venezuelan Declaration of Independence was signed in 1811. Today, the site houses a number of historical documents, as well as art from popular artists like Emilio Boggio. The Concejo Municipal can be found in central Caracas on the Esquina de Las Monjas.
El Panteon Nacional holds the guarded tombs of many popular Venezuelans, including Simon Bolivar. Located in the Plaza Panteon in central Caracas, it is an important historical site that includes walls and ceilings covered with paintings of Venezuelan battle scenes.
Paseo Los Proceres is an avenue that spans from Central University to the Military Academy in Caracas in order to honor Venezuela's heroes. The site is 2 kilometers in length and is composed of gardens and trees in addition to the monuments. It makes for a public place of exercise or relaxation in the city.
