  1. Exploring Plaza Bolivar

    • The main square of every Venezuelan city and town is known as Plaza Bolivar, named after revolutionary leader Simon Bolivar. The Plaza Bolivar of Caracas celebrates the city's history with historical monuments, museums and churches. It also marks the spot where the city was founded in 1567. The plaza is decorated by trees and gardens, making it a prime spot for relaxation and socializing. Activities include exploring the Museo Sacro de Caracas, a colonial home turned art museum, and the El Capitolio Nacional government building, where visitors can see the country's Act of Independence and take in art and decorative fountains.

    • For a stunning aerial view of the city, tourists can take to Avila Mountain via a cable car. The car leisurely ascends the mountain to 6,889 feet, giving tourists views of Caracas and the Caribbean Sea. Visitors will also see rainforest vegetation and undeveloped wilderness atop the mountain. Another way to get up the mountain is by hiking it. It's estimated that this will take three to four hours. Once atop, hikers are able to take the cable car back down.
