How to Negotiate at the Indian Market in Lima, Peru

In Lima, Peru you will find many markets that offer Inca handicrafts and food items. One of the famous markets in Miraflores is the Indian Market. In this set of shops, you will find fine alpaca throws and shawls, hand-carved wood artifacts and solid silver jewelry and accessories. When purchasing items at this market, the "asked" price should never be the final price. Learning to negotiate in this market takes practice, but can be rewarding once you become more comfortable haggling with the vendors.

  Find the vendor with the lowest price and tell them you can only afford half of what they are asking. They will start working towards your number.

  Take their rock bottom price and take it to the next vendor. See if they will get the price lower than your first vendor.
