Skateparks in the Dominican Republic: Where to Roll

The DR's skate scene is growing, with concrete parks in major tourist and urban centers. Here's the current map (as of 2024).

Santo Domingo (Capital)

  • Skatepark Distrito Nacional: Urban plaza style, street obstacles, lights
  • Skatepark El Dorado: Bowl + street section, near El Dorado mall

Santiago (Second City)

  • Skatepark Los Jardines: Residential area, mixed transitions
  • Skatepark La Trinitaria: Near university zone, good flow

Bávaro / Punta Cana (Tourist Zone)

  • Skatepark Coco Bongo: Near nightclub, bowl-focused, tourist-friendly
  • Skatepark Palma Real: Shopping village adjacent, street course

Cabarete (North Coast)

  • Skatepark Kite Beach: Beachside, wind-protected bowl, kite-surfer crossover crowd

Las Terrenas (Samaná Peninsula)

  • Skatepark Playa las Terrenas: Oceanfront, mellow transitions
  • Skatepark Playa Cosón: Newer, larger bowl, expat/local mix

Scene Context

  • Most parks built 2015–2023 by municipal govts + NGOs (Skateistan, local crews)
  • Tropical climate = year-round skating but rain/humidity wear surfaces fast
  • No national federation yet; informal contests, Instagram community (@skatedr)
  • Bring bearings/hardware — limited skate shops (Santiago: Rolling; SDQ: Urban Boardshop)

If you're visiting with a board, these parks offer a uniquely Caribbean session—palm trees, reggaeton, and ocean breeze included.
