Burnham Park has 12 main areas, including a man-made lake with rowboats to rent, a skating rink, a rose garden, a children's area and the Melvin Jones Grandstand. The park serves as an amusement park with sports and gaming areas, restaurants and bicycling. The park is located in the city's center, with other attractions and shopping built around it. Other parks are located inside Burnham, including Ingorot Garden.
Inside Wright Park is a Baguio landmark, the Pool of Pines. A gazebo and flight of stairs leads visitors to the Wright Park Riding Circle, where horses and ponies are available to rent.
For a bit of Baguio history, visit Mines View Park. Baguio began as an American mining town and this park has a view of gold and copper mines and the Cordillera Mountains. It also has silverworks and souvenir stores. Visit Rimando's for carved artifacts. You can also buy jam, brittle and other sweets at the Good Shepherd Convent.
The Baguio Botanical Garden, also called Igorot Village, shows the native homes of Cordillera tribes. Take photos with Igorot tribesmen dressed in traditional garb. The gardens grow pine seedlings and other flora for the city.
Visit The Mansion, built in the 1908 as a summer home for American governor generals. The home was destroyed in 1945 during a battle for liberation of the Philippines. It was rebuilt in 1947. It's now used by Philippine presidents. The home's gates are replicas of those at London's Buckingham Palace.
The Baguio Cathedral, actually named Our Lady of Atonement Cathedral, features twin spires and sits on Mount Mary Hill. The rose-colored church is one of Baguio's most visited landmarks. It offers a view of the cityscape of Baguio.
Local products to buy in Baguio include honey and Benguet coffee, both produced locally. There are also many art works to choose from, including metal works made from beaten copper and others. Baguio has many silver shops that offer sterling silver or silver-plated jewelry, silverware and trinkets.
Wood carvings are available as small as a back scratcher and as large a life-size statue of an Igorot warrior. These carvings are popular with natives and visitors. Hand woven art is also sold in Baguio City. Check at souvenir stands and stores in the city. Paintings and sculptures are also sold; the city has a rich arts scene. Visit the Wood Carvers Village and the Easter Weaving Room while in Baguio.
