Sedge is a monocot flowering plant that looks like grass. It is found mostly around the harsh higher elevations of Kenai Fjords National Park, above the tree line.

The hemlock is an evergreen tree that grows in the lower elevations of Kenai Fjords National Park. Hemlocks can grow up to 200-ft. tall, have branches that appear droopy and have a scaly, dark bark.
Bunchberry is a type of flowering plant that grows in the lower elevations of Kenai Fjords National Park. They have small purple flowers, petal-like bracts that are white and grow leaves in opposite pairs. Bunchberry is a perennial plant that can grow up to 15-cm tall.
Mountain cranberry, or lingonberry, is an evergreen shrub whose fruit is edible. They thrive in the acidic soils of Kenai Fjords National Park and grow up to 40-cm tall. The mountain cranberry tolerates cold weather well, but does not grow well in hot temperatures.
Salmonberry grows around the coastal ranges of Kenai Fjords National Park. This shrub grows 3- to 12-ft. tall, and has flowers with five purple petals. The actual berry of the salmonberry shrub resembles a big raspberry that ranges in color from yellow to dark orange.
Skunk cabbage, or yellow skunk cabbage, resembles a Japanese peace lily with a yellow flower, and grows around the coastal ranges and wetlands of Kenai Fjords National Park. The skunk cabbage gets its name from the skunk-like odor it emits to attract pollinators.
