What is the annual precipitation in Hawaii?

Hawaii has varying degrees of precipitation, mainly due to the differing terrain throughout the islands. Generally speaking, the annual precipitation in Hawaii ranges from around 10 inches in the lower elevation coastal areas, to over 200 inches on the mountain slopes of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa on Hawaii island. Rainfall can also differ markedly from one side of an island to the other. For example, the windward (northeast) slopes of Haleakala on Maui receive an annual average of 100 to 125 inches of rain, while the leeward (southwest) slopes receive less than 5 inches per year.
